Text Link Advertising

It all started back in July 2004 when PHP Junkyard went live. The idea was to offer some neat free PHP scripts to webmasters and if I make a buck or two in the process to help pay for my schooling I would be more than happy.

It soon became clear that an AdSense banner and a PayPal donate button will barely cover the hosting fees let alone pay for a beer or two. On the other hand the site attracted more and more visitors and every day I spent more time providing free support for my free scripts.

How I started with text ads

To be honest I don't really remember anymore how I found a website offering text link advertising named LinkWorth. The homepage said something about advertisers wanting to pay webmasters money for placing their text links on our websites.

It hasn't been a single month since that I hadn't received a link request from LinkWorth. The earnings were growing every month with the old deals renewing and new ones being added. My website, my free scritps, countless hours I spent developing and providing support, it all finally started to pay off.

But not only PHP Junkyard, I submitted a number of other websites I own to LinkWorth as well. I had a few affiliate website making maybe a few bucks per year. Now, thanks to text ads from LinkWorth, these websites are generating a small but consistent monthly profit. All I have to do is approve new ad requests as they come and post the links on my websites and that takes 2 minutes.
